I highly recommend this for for type 4 hair! But all hair types can use clay as a cleanser. Here's why: I was unable to wash my hair for just over 2 months and had a ton of product build up. Usually, I'd have to shampoo my hair at least twice to clean my hair strands and an extra shampoo to get rid of any residual product build up left behind after the first 2 washes... But, imagine my surprise when I tried a clay hair mask (as recommended by a friend) instead and it cleaned both my hair and scalp in one go, without damaging my hair strands. It left my hair feeling soft and moisturized too. I used 1 part clay to 2 parts water, 2 Tablespoons of olive oil and 2 Tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. And left it on until it dried before washing it out. You can deep condition as you normally would after rinsing it out. It took just as long as my usual wash day routine but had way better results! I'm now excited to try using a clay mask with a few drops of essential oils like black seed oil and tea tree oil, just to see if there is a difference from just using olive oil alone. I also now understand why some tribes in Africa use clay in their hair, and after my first experience with cleansing hair using a clay mask, there's no way I'm going back to using shampoo again!
