Defines my daughter's 3b/3c/4a hair beautifully. Nice shine and a soft hold.
I was in Barbados on holidays with my family and ordered this product. I have used the product before and loved it. My hair is 4a and it defines my curls. Also this product contains no glycerin which is great as we are in the wet/rainy season in Trinidad and Tobago. The process of ordering on the website was quick however i decided to collect my product from a designated spot and had to call the owner who was very pleasant. I even received a sample.
Well first off this product can take a bow for making curls just like it says.
I used it on texturised 4b/c hair after Mielle's Honey & Pomegranate leave-in and found it to be great at defining and moisturising curls. Got good results with a diffuser but the best results were achieved with air drying.
While it has a slightly tacky feel after a few days and can get crunchy over time with each refresher, to its credit it did pass the no-flaky residue test with flying colours.
I've also used it after Camille Rose Curl Love Moisture Milk leave-in conditioner but was not impressed with that combo as I found the CR leave-in a bit heavy and didn't care for the slightly nutty smell. Nothing too dominant, but it took away from the fabulous scent of Curl Maker so I will keep pairing it with the Mielle leave-in.
While Curl Maker jelly has a similar composition to Kinky Curly Custard, it's lighter than the custard (which is more a gel than a jelly) I also found that used moderately, Curl Maker produces better ringlet curls with less of a tendency to clump if scrunched.
In a nutshell, if you want superior curl definition, Curl Maker is where it's at..
My curls were popping with the Camille Rose Naturals - Curl Maker Defining Jelly. The most defined I have ever seen them. The only thing is that I sweat in my head and it would start to feel gooey as a result. Maybe I used a bit too much so next time I would use it more sparingly.
