This entire line by Shea Moisture is one of their best for moisture - in my opinion - so I shouldn't have been surprised when my hair really liked this product. You don't need to be transitioning to use this, I've been natural 5+ years and my type 4 hair drank up all the moisture this provided. It absorbs easily, isn't greasy and I can feel the difference in my hair when I use it. Great for summer months where hair gets even drier.
